Good live players are really talented at using your verbal and physical behavior to figure out what kind of hand you have so it’s really important to learn how to act the exact same way whether you have a monster or a bluff.

In this free strategy video we explain simple ways to make sure you don’t give away poker tells by mistake.

First of all it’s perfectly okay not to verbally engage your opponent when you’re involved in a big hand. A lot of players will try to pressure you into talking but until you’re more comfortable, it’s better to remain silent.

Your opponents will also be watching your breathing, your hands, your feet and your body position.

The important thing to remember is that in general they’re looking for deviations from your regular behavior.

If you’re usually very talkative and suddenly clam up it might mean you’re nervous about holding a marginal hand, for example.

It’s helpful to develop a routine and stick to it in high-pressure situations.
